Brown, Coaches Hope Rebound Record is First of Many
Successes
Youngstown -- Youngstown State freshman Brandi Brown and the Penguins’
coaching staff is hoping that Feb. 6, 2010, is the first of many record-breaking
days for the young forward in what has started to be a very promising career –
to say the least.
Brown broke YSU’s freshman rebounding record against UIC
on Saturday, surpassing Jen Perugini’s previous mark of 239 in 28 games that was
set in 2001-02. Perugini was voted the Horizon League Newcomer of the Year that

Penguins Baseball Picked to Finish Fourth by Rivals.com
Youngstown -- The Youngstown State baseball team has
been picked to finish fourth in the Horizon League standings by Kendall Rogers
of Rivals.com in his conference preview of the 2010 season.
Rogers also predicted that first baseman Jeremy Banks and
pitcher Phil Klein would be named First-Team All-Horizon League.

Freshman Casey Hill Leads
Divers With First, Second-Place Finish
Youngstown -- The Youngstown State Penguins
divers held their annual diving invitational on Sunday at the Beeghly
Natatorium. Youngstown State, Clarion University and Gannon University
all competed in the invite. Freshman Casey Hill won the one-meter event
and finished second in the three meter.

Blase Breaks Own 3,000m Record at Notre Dame Meyo

Two individual meets were on tap for the Penguins over the weekend
against national competition, as 11 members of the track and field
squads competed at the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind.,
while standout senior thrower Aaron Merrill attended the New Balance
Armory Collegiate in New York City.

Second-Half Comeback Falls Short in 74-68 Loss at UIC
Chicago, Ill. -- Senior DeAndre Mays and junior
Vytas Sulskis scored 16 and 14 points, respectively, in the second half and the
Penguins cut a 17-point deficit down to three but the Youngstown State men's
basketball team dropped a 74-68 decision to UIC on Saturday afternoon at the UIC
Pavilion.
