YSU Tops Horizon League with 18 Academic All-League
Selections
Indianapolis, Ind. --
Of the 86 student-athletes honored from eight
sports, Youngstown State University
led all Horizon League institutions
with 18 selections to the league's
Spring Academic All-League Teams,
the Horizon League announced on
Wednesday.
The men's and women's track and field teams each landed
five student athletes on the squad
while four baseball student-athletes
were recognized. Women's and men's
tennis and women's and men's golf
each received one student-athlete on
the academic all-league teams.

Jarrod Davis from the men's track
and field team and Second-Team

Academic All-America choice Brandon Caipen of the Penguins baseball program
highlight the YSU honorees. Davis,
who captured the javelin and hammer
throw titles to capture Field
Performer of the Year, owns a 4.0
grade-point average in computer
information systems, while Caipen, a
28th-round draft choice of the
Houston Astros, owns a 3.82
grade-point average in integrated
social studies.
