Thirty-Seven Penguin Student-Athletes Earn Degrees This
Spring
Youngstown -- An impressive number of 37 former
student-athletes earned their
degrees from Youngstown State
University this Spring following
graduation services which were held
on campus this past Saturday.
Overall, a group of seven student-athletes graduated Summa
Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude or Cum
Laude while 11 were members of the
Penguins' two-time Gateway Champion
football squad.
Graduating Summa Cum Laude were swimmer Becky Bertuzzi,
volleyball player Abby Ettenhofer,
tennis player Gina Peretti
and golfer Bonnie Sherman. Together
the four individuals were named
academic All-Horizon League a
combined 10 times, while Ettenhofer was a second-team
Academic All-America selection in
2005.
Former student-athletes receiving their diplomas this spring

Plenty of other individuals who helped the athletic
department in other capacities also
graduated. Earning degrees were
former ticket office student
assistants Laura Bryer and Christine
Franz. Former Athletic Department
Administrative student assistant
Jenna Parker and National Anthem
singers Brianne Kochunas and
Marianne Dobritch. Members of the
YSU Marching Pride Majorettes and
the basketball dance teams Allyson
Hayes and Emily Baumgartner also
graduated. Hayes also worked as a
graphic artist in the YSU marketing
office the past two years. |
