Penguins Land Eight on Academic All-Horizon League Winter Teams

   
Indianapolis, Ind. -- Youngstown State athletic teams had eight student-athletes recognized as part of the Horizon League’s Winter Academic All-Conference teams. Leading with the way with 16 selections was Milwaukee while Butler was second with 14.
   
Penguin student-athletes who earned all-academic honors are Lauren Branson (women’s basketball), Julia Darling (swimming), Adam Kagarise (track and field), Aaron Merrill (track and field), J.D. Sheppard (track and field), Bethany Anderson (track and field), Alisha Anthony (track and field), and Darla Wilson (track and field).
    Anderson is a three-team Indoor Track and Field All-Academic selection while Branson, Merrill and Sheppard are two-time members of their winter Academic All-League squads.
    The Winter Academic All-Horizon League Teams are selected by the Horizon League Sports Information Directors and Faculty Athletic Representatives. To be eligible for consideration, nominees must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or better on a 4.00 scale having competed at least one year at a member institution while earning at least 24 semester hours or 36 quarter-hours of credit.
