Baseball: Frank Santore League Pitcher of the Week
Elmhurst, Ill. -- YSU freshman
pitcher Frank Santore was named the
Mid-Continent Conference's Pitcher
of the Week, the league announced on
Monday. Joining Santore earning
weekly honors from the conference
was Western Illinois' Sean Munger.
Last week, Santore picked up wins over Kent State and Oakland
and he has not allowed an earned run
in his last 13.2 innings of work.
Against Oakland, he pitched three
scoreless innings allowing three
hits while striking out two. He
entered the game with the Penguins
trailing 6-4 in the fourth and did
not allow a run in three innings as
YSU earned a 10-6 win. On May 1,
Santore made his first career start
against Kent State and held the
Golden Flashes to just five hits and
three runs -- all unearned -- in 6.2
innings. He walked five and struck
out four to pick up his first career
victory. |
