Baseball: Penguins Lose at Kent State, 8-1
Kent, Ohio -- Kent State's Josh Mayle and Kyle
Augsburger combined on a four-hitter
to snap Youngstown State's
three-game winning streak as Kent
State beat the Penguins 8-1 on
Wednesday afternoon at Gene Michael

Youngstown State (13-14-1) entered the game having scored in
double figures in its last five
games, but failed to get the offense
going against the Golden Flashes
(11-16). YSU never led and trailed
3-1 in the seventh inning before
Kent State opened the game up
scoring five times.
Joe Marzano had two hits for YSU as Kendall Schlabach scored
the only run and Kellen Dixon had
the lone RBI. Schlabach and Dixon
each had stolen bases.

innings as the starter. Matt Brumit
allowed a run in two innings, Paul
Yates allowed a run in an inning,
Frank Santore allowed six hits, a
walk and five earned runs in a third
of an inning and Brad Hennessey
pitched 1.2 innings retiring all
five batters he faced.
The Penguins will look to rebound when they return to Mid-Continent
Conference play this weekend at
Cafaro Field. Oral Roberts visits
Niles with a 25-6 overall record and
an 8-0 league mark. The Golden
Eagles have won 10 straight games.
