Former Penguin Todd Santore Signs With Northern
League Team
Sioux City, Iowa – Former
Youngstown State University catcher
Todd Santore (Boardman, Ohio) has
signed with the Sioux City Explorers
of the independent Northern League.
Santore, who played for YSU from 1998-2001, will be part of
the team when spring training begins
on May 10, the organization said.
While with the Penguins, Santore finished his career as
Youngstown State’s all-time leader
in hits (202) and doubles (47). He
ranks third in career games played
(179), ninth in career average
(.347), second in career at bats
(582) and fifth in career RBI (105).
The Explorers open up spring training on May 10 and will play
their first exhibition game on May
11 in Crofton, Neb., against the
Sioux Falls Canaries. Sioux City
opens the 2002 Northern League
season against the Fargo-Moorhead
Redhawks on May 24. |
