Banks, Schultz Named to Horizon League All-Tournament Team

Schultz were named to the Horizon
League All-Tournament Team, league
director of communications Will
Roleson announced.
Banks was named to the team and earned the tournament's most
valuable player award last season
while Schultz was named to team for
the first time in his career.
Banks hit .385 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs
in three games for the Penguins. He
went 2-for-5 and scored the winning
run against UW-Milwaukee in YSU's
first game, and he had one of YSU's
four hits against the Flames in game
two. He hit two doubles and had two
RBIs in YSU's 12-10 loss to the
Panthers on Saturday. He finished
the season as the team's leading
hitter with a .356 average.
Schultz caught fire at the end of the tournament, hitting
safely in five of his last six at
bats to finish the tournament with a
.364 average. After being held
hitless in game one, he singled in
the eighth inning against the
Flames. He then went 3-for-4 with an
RBI double and scored two runs
against the Panthers in game three.
Schultz finished as the team-leader
in RBIs with 38 and hit .282 on the
campaign.
UIC and UW-Milwaukee each landed four members on the
All-Tournament Team. UIC's Ryan Zink
was named the tournament's MVP,
throwing a four-hit shutout against
the Penguins on Friday and picking
up the save in the Flames' 9-6 win
in the championship game.
