Justin Banks Earns Horizon League Player of the Week Accolades
Indianapolis -- Youngstown State
senior Justin Banks has been named
the Horizon League Player of the
Week for his performance against
Kent State and UIC last week.
Banks hit .500, slugged .800
and posted an on-base percentage of
.643 in leading YSU to three wins
last week. In addition to posting
five hits in 10 official at bats,
Banks walked three times, was hit by
a pitch and laid down two sacrifice
bunts.
After driving in two of YSU’s three runs against Kent State
on Wednesday, Banks became YSU’s
all-time leader in career games
played on Friday night against UIC.
On Saturday against the Flames,
Banks went 3-for-3 with a double and
an RBI in game one and 1-for-3 with
a double and a run scored in the
nightcap. His outing against the
Flames upped his average against
Horizon League opponents to a
team-best .435.
This marks the second time in his career that Banks has been
named Player of the Week. He also
won the award almost a year ago to
the day on May 9, 2005.
