Koehnlein Named to Horizon League All-Tournament Team
Youngstown -- Youngstown State sophomore John
Koehnlein was named to the Horizon League All-Tournament Team, adding to an
already impressive list of accomplishments this season.
Koehnlein batted .524 (11-for-21) with six runs scored and
six RBIs in four games at the tournament last week in Chicago. He set the school
and tournament record for hits in a game with six against Butler on Thursday.
His 11 hits at the tournament brought his season total to a
school-record 108, which also ranks as the third-most ever in the Horizon
League. Koehnlein was honored as a First-Team All-Horizon League selection prior
to YSU's first game on Wednesday.
Koehnlein was one of several Penguins to have solid a
tournament at the plate. Erich Diedrich batted .500 with two home runs and seven
RBIs, and Brent Parks hit .500 with a home run eight runs scored. Tom Clayton,
Dustin Wachter, Sean Lucas and Eric Marzec also batted above .300.
