Baseball Meets as Full Squad for
First Time, Introduces Full Group of
Newcomers
Youngstown -- The 2009
Youngstown State baseball team met
as a full group for the first time
and discussed goals and procedures
for the upcoming season prior to the
start of the academic year.
The impressive group of 14 newcomers, which includes seven
freshmen and seven transfers, were
also introduced as a whole for the
first time at the meeting in Beeghly
Center.
The 14 players come from a diverse geographic background with
four from Ohio, four from
Pennsylvania and one each from
Arizona, Maryland, Louisiana, New
Jersey, Virginia and Wisconsin.
New assistant coach Tom Lipari also met the majority of the
players for the first time. Lipari
was hired at the beginning of the
month as the recruiting coordinator
and pitching coach.
Players began workouts on Tuesday and will begin fall
practice in preparation for the
Red-White World series in October.
