2005: Was named the Horizon League
Pitcher of the Year and First-Team All-Horizon League, posting a 7-5
mark with a career-best ERA of 3.42 and a career-high 88
strikeouts...was named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week on May 2
and April 11...was also named to the Collegiate Baseball Foundation’s
National Honor Roll three times...was a dominant 3-1 in Horizon League
contests with a 2.00 ERA...allowed only two hits and one unearned run in
a nine-inning complete game to lead the Penguins to a 5-1 win over
Wright State (4/29)...struck out a career-high 15 batters and did not
allow an earned run in a 5-1 victory over Cleveland State (4/8)...after
allowing an unearned run in the bottom of the first against the Vikings,
he struck out 15 of the next 29 hitters, including striking out the side
in the ninth to record his first complete game of the season...struck
out eight different Vikings while allowing only four singles...his mark
of 15 strikeouts was the most by a Penguin since 1997...did not allow a
run through 8 1/3 innings against UW-Milwaukee before allowing a
pinch-hit homer in a complete game victory (5/20)...after a loss to
Missouri on March 12, he went 6-2 with a 2.28 ERA and struck out 73
hitters in 67 innings...picked up victories against Dayton, Morehead
State, IPFW, Cleveland State, Ashland, Wright State and
UW-Milwaukee...was named to Baseball America’s Preseason All-Horizon
League Team.
2004: Was YSU’s
workhorse all season, making 14 starts and and hurling 93.1
innings...posted a record of 7-3 with 82 strikeouts while a 5.11
ERA...struck out six or more hitters in eight of his starts...picked up
the win in YSU’s opening round win over Butler in the Horizon League
Championship (5/26)...allowed three runs while striking out four in
eight innings of work against the Bulldogs...also defeated Butler in the
regular season as he allowed two runs on six hits in a complete game
victory (4/23)...allowed only two hits as he threw seven scoreless
innings at Missouri to earn his first win of the season (2/27)...allowed
one run on five hits while striking out eight through seven innings in
win over IPFW (4/17)...also defeated Wofford (3/6) and Illinois-Chicago
(5/14)...struck out a career-high 11 hitters at Detroit (3/7).
2003:
Went 5-5 with one save and a 4.88 ERA...ranked among Horizon League
leaders in innings pitched (10th - 75.2) and strikeouts (third -
80)...went 2-1 with a 2.73 ERA in regular season conference bouts...was
dominant at Eastwood Field, going 3-1 with an ERA of 1.78...held lefties
to a .231 average...threw six innings or more in seven of nine
starts...shifted to the bullpen late in the season...picked up his save
against UW-Milwaukee in the Horizon League Tournament, tossing three
shutout innings against the Panthers...earned his first win in relief
appearance against Ohio (3/8)...allowed three runs, one earned, in 6.2
innings in win over Davis & Elkins (3/25)...fanned nine in seven innings
in win over Detroit (4/11)...picked up his fourth win in a seven-inning,
11 strikeout performance against Butler in which he allowed three
unearned runs...threw three scoreless innings in relief at Toledo to
pick up the victory.
High School:
Was a four-year letterwinner...set the school record for most homeruns
and tied the school record for most homeruns in a season…. named to
USSSA World Series first-team all-tournament team and was a two-time
first-team All-GLL selection…named first-team all-district...was an
honorable mention selection as a pitcher…helped lead team to league
championship…named team MVP…received James F. O’Brian Award for Best
Male Student Athlete…also a four-year letterwinner in golf and a
three-year letterwinner in basketball.
