Thomas Pitches Perfect Ninth Inning in Major League Debut

Youngstown -- It didn't take long for former Youngstown pitcher Justin Thomas to make his Major League debut.
Hours after being called up to the Seattle Mariners as part of the September roster expansion, Thomas came on to retire the middle of the Texas order in the bottom of the ninth inning on Monday. Release

		Youngstown -- Former Youngstown State pitcher and Horizon League Pitcher of the Year Justin Thomas is finally a Major Leaguer. 		Youngstown -- The 2009 Youngstown State baseball team met as a full group for the first time and discussed goals and procedures for the upcoming season prior to the start of the academic year. The impressive group of 14 newcomers, which includes seven freshmen and seven transfers, were also introduced as a whole for the first time at the meeting in Beeghly Center. Release \| Roster

Former Michigan State Coach Tom Lipari Joins Baseball Staff

		Youngstown -- Former professional pitcher and Michigan State assistant Tom Lipari has been hired as the top assistant baseball coach at Youngstown State University, YSU head coach Rich Pasquale announced. Lipari will be in charge of overseeing the development of the Penguins' pitching staff and serve as the recruiting coordinator. Release

Former Penguin Pitcher Kalafos Signs to Play in Northern League

		Youngstown -- Former Youngstown State pitcher Adam Kalafos has signed a contract to play professionally for the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the Northern League. Kalafos, a righthander who pitched for the Penguins the past two seasons, is the fifth YSU player to sign a professional contract in the past four years. Release
