Assistant Volleyball Coach

JOB SUMMARY: To assist in coaching, recruiting, counseling, conditioning, scouting and evaluating for the volleyball team as directed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilize coaching and teaching methods to develop student-athlete’s athletic skills and analyze performance of student-athletes; Counsel student-athletes regarding their academic and health behaviors; evaluate opponents and develop game strategies; evaluate and recruit prospective student-athletes; recommend awarding of athletic grant-in-aids;

Comply with all NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations and meet proficiency requirements of NCAA recruiting; manage camps, clinics, and pre-season training, if applicable; manage fundraising activities to subsidize athletic program; manage budget and make projections to support sport activities.

OTHER FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate and recommend new assistant coaches; videotape practices, games, and strength training sessions as directed; manage equipment inventory and related duties as directed; develop and manage strength training program as directed; perform public relation activities to promote the program; perform related duties as assigned. drive passenger vans as directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree; collegiate playing or collegiate coaching experience required; knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; ability to analyze situations and develop solutions; travel and non-traditional hours; valid driver’s license.

Strength & Conditioning Coach

JOB SUMMARY:
To provide strength and conditioning programs for all sports teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyzes available data on strength and conditioning of new and returning student-athletes in order to identify potential levels of ability; tests athletes to evaluate performance level and desired areas of improvement.  Designs, implements, and monitors safe and effective year-round strength and conditioning programs to improve physical performance for all men’s and women’s sports, including pre-season, in-season, and off-season workouts.  Abides by rules and regulations of NCAA, conferences and University.  Plans and implements appropriate sport specific exercises, exercise sequences, sets, repetitions, recovery periods, load, frequency and intensity; selects appropriate exercises and effective proper execution for athletes. Teaches safe and effective lifting techniques and proper spotting procedures; instructs athletes in correct execution of flexibility and speed development.  Develops and implements appropriate strength and conditioning program designed to reduce risk and severity of potential injury.  In cooperation with medical professionals, works to rehabilitate individuals following injury for successful return to playing arena. Attends staff meetings, games, and practices for appropriate sports for purpose of conditioning activities.

Supervises and monitors safe and successful daily operation of weight room facilities. Effectively schedules teams in weight room facilities. Establishes effective line of communication with all head coaches. Maintains equipment in order to provide safe training environment; develops and monitors safety inspection and maintenance programs for facilities; recommends and installs new equipment per manufacturer’s instructions. Develops and operates student-athlete weight room orientation sessions. Maintains records, prepares reports of athletes’ status and progress. Participates in on-campus recruit visits with respect to weight facilities. Participates in general public relations at all functions inherent with position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, physical education or related field required; master’s degree preferred. NSCA-CSCS and CPR/AED certification required. Minimum 3 years collegiate strength coaching experience and basic computer skills required. Flexible hours, including nights and weekends required
