Football: Terry, Mason, Bishop Earn HBK Player-of-the-Game Accolades

Youngstown -- Sophomore linebacker James Terry, junior tailback Marcus Mason and junior punter Joe Bishop were named the Hill Barth & King Players for the Indiana State game, the coaching staff announced on Tuesday.
Terry was named the Hill Barth & King Defensive Player of the Game after a solid performance on both defense and special teams. He played a total of 49 snaps against the Sycamores and recorded a 90 percent grade. By the coaching staff he was credited with five tackles, including four solo stops, two sacks, another tackle for loss, a quarterback pressure and a pass breakup.
Mason was named the Hill Barth & King Offensive Player of the Game following his second consecutive 100-plus yard rushing performance. Mason rushed for a career-high 152 yards on 18 carries. He scored on three-yard touchdown runs in the first and second quarter to help the Penguins cruise to the victory. He had 126 yards on 27 rushes the week before against Illinois State.
Bishop was tabbed the Hill Barth & King Special Teams Player of the Game for his work on two punts and seven kickoffs. He averaged 43.5 yards on his punts, including a 52-yard boot. His two punts pinned the Sycamores inside their 20-yard line on both occasions at the 19 and 17-yard lines respectively. Two of his kickoffs were not returned past the six-yard line while two others were for touchbacks.
Offensive tackle John Bartos earned his second Jim Zdelar Offensive Lineman of the Game award this season. The first was at Liberty on Sept. 17. Overall four members of the offensive line had winning performances as the Penguins erupted for 379 yards rushing and 567 yards of total offense. The 567 yards of total offense was the fifth-best single-game output in school history while the 379 yards rushing ranked as the eighth most.
Junior linebacker Jeff Koval was named the Jermaine Hopkins Defensive Lineman of the Game. Koval played on 46 snaps and made his first start of the season against the Sycamores. He registered three solo stops, two assisted tackles, a sack, a pass breakup and a quarterback pressure according to the coaching staff.
Earning scout team player-of-the-week accolades were sophomore wide receiver Tariq Goode (offense), redshirt freshman cornerback Tony Kavouras (defense) and junior cornerback Chris Goffer (special teams).
Terry also picked up the W.O.W./Derek Pixley Hit of the Game. It marks the second straight week and that the sophomore had the pop of the game.
Senior offensive guard Tony Limongi was named the Haines Family Player of the Game by the YSU broadcast crew.
The 15th (ESPN/USA Today Coaches) and 17th-ranked (The Sports Network) Penguins return to action on Saturday when they play host to Western Illinois. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at Stambaugh Stadium.
