Former Penguin Donald Jones Added to Under Armour Senior Bowl Roster

Youngstown -- Former Youngstown State wide receiver Donald Jones has been selected to participate in the 2010 Under Armour Senior Bowl, his agent announced on Tuesday morning. The game is this Saturday at 4 p.m. in Mobile, Ala., and will be televised on the NFL Network.

Workouts for the Senior Bowl began on Monday, however Jones did not receive notification that he was added to the game until late last night. He

He is the first Penguin to be selected to the game since quarterback Ron Jaworski in 1972.

According to the rosters on the Senior Bowl website, Jones is just one of five non-FBS player who will participate in this year's contest. The North squad will be coached by the Detroit Lions' staff while the Miami Dolphins' staff will be in charge of the South squad.

Jones has already received notice that he will participate in the NFL Combine on Feb 24-March 2 in Indianapolis. Additionally, he has been selected to play in the Texas vs. The Nation All-Start Game on Feb. 6 in El Paso, Texas. As of now, Jones plans on playing in both games.

A first-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference selection, Jones had an impressive senior year for the Penguins setting the school-mark for single-season grabs with 77. He had 77 receptions for a team-best 790 yards and caught six touchdown passes. He twice tied the school record with 11 receptions in a contest (Missouri State and Southern Illinois).
