2009: Played in six games, including first five of the year...also played against South Dakota State...saw action as a defensive reserve and on special teams...credited with three tackles for the season, all of which were solo stops...had two solo collars versus Pittsburgh...had a solo tackle against South Dakota State...played a season-high 11 snaps on defense at Pitt...earned his first letter.

 

2008: Redshirted...scout-team defensive player of the week against Missouri State...scout-team special teams player of the week versus Western Illinois.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: As a senior was a first-team all-conference selection...had 72 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for losses, three fumble recoveries and one interception...Cardinals lost 28-27 to Coldwater in the Division IV State Championship Game in 2007...had a team-high nine total tackles, including five solos in title game...also forced a fumble and had a pass breakup...Mooney won the state championship in 2006 beating Plain City Jon Elder 26-12...Mooney lost in the state championship to Coldwater 33-9 in 2005...in final three years Mooney was 36-4 (14-1 in 2007, 14-0 in 2006 and 12-3 in 2005)...coach was P.J. Fecko...played basketball...member of the honor roll and National Honor Society.

 

PERSONAL: Parents are Marianne and Anthony Patella...has a brother (Anthony)...born June 20, 1989...major is pre-business management.
