YSU Student-Athletes Post Another Impressive Semester GPA

Youngstown State student-athletes continue to impress in the classroom after posting a cumulative grade-point average of all student-athletes of 3.12. Overall, 16 of YSU’s 17 sports finished the year with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.

At the conclusion of the spring semester, a group of 47 student-athletes had a semester-GPA of 4.00 while 10 carry a cumulative GPA of 4.0. Also, 224 Youngstown State student-athletes have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above while 219 had at least a 3.00 in the spring semester. Overall, 60 percent of YSU’s 376 student-athletes own a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.

The Penguins have now maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above in nine straight semesters dating back to the 2012 spring semester.

The women’s golf team posted a department-best 3.62 semester GPA while the women’s basketball team was second with an impressive 3.55. Twelve sports at least a 3.22 GPA and 13 registered at least a 3.08. The men’s golf team posted a 3.37 GPA, the highest of all men’s programs, and eight of nine players recorded at least a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.
