Close to 160 golfers participated in the 2017 West Coast Chill Penguin Club Scholarship Golf Outing on June 7 at the Youngstown Country Club.
Due to the volume of foursomes, 39 in all, the day was split into two flights, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Golfers, YSU coaches, staff and student-athletes gathered a windy and fall-like day, but all-in-all, everyone who was in attendance went home happy.
Presenting sponsors of the outing were A.P. O'Horo, Compco Industries and Johnson Controls, lunch was courtesy of DiRusso's Sausage while dinner was catered Gia Russa. Drinks for the entire afternoon were provided by Pepsi. We'd also like to recognize Giannos Candies, Eagle Wear, BNS Sports, Chick-Fil-A (Poland - Tiffany Square) and K.E.L Home Inspection for sponsorship of the outing.
Also a special thanks goes to the 97 contributors who purchased tee sponsors for the event.
The outing was a four-person, best-ball scramble at the picturesque par-71, 6,071-yard course. The event started with a shotgun start at noon with 33 foursomes competing. Six foursomes teed off at 7:30 a.m.
The group of Ed Dunkerley, Todd Grabowski, Tom Tuchnowski and Jim Visinni won the event by two strokes carding a 13-under par score of 58.
Bryan Horne Zack Mansky, Cory Jursik and Brian Newell finished second with an 11-under score of 60 and the group of Randy Barker, Ray Briya, Tim Marlow and Stan McCamon finished third at a 10-under par score of 61.
