Soccer: Penguins Suffer League Loss to
Detroit, 5-0
Youngstown --
UDM's Mandi Lasky scored two second-half goals to
help lead Detroit Mercy to a 5-0
victory over the Youngstown State
Women's Soccer team on Friday night
at Stambaugh Stadium.
Detroit's Tanya Tiselj scored the first goal of
the contest at 11:57 and Jessica
Barrett scored the Titans second
goal of the game at 24:38.
Judith Atwood added the the third
goal off an assist from Tiselj at
37:57 to give the Titans a 3-0 lead
going into halftime.
The Titans outshot the Penguins 24-4 and outcornered
Youngstown State, 4-1. Freshman
keeper Caitlin Bestard recorded 12
saves for the Penguins. With
the loss YSU falls to 1-15 on the
season, 0-4 in the Horizon League.
Detroit improves to 6-7-4 (2-2-2
Horizon) with the win.
The Penguins return to action on Sunday, Oct. 27, when they
play host to Niagara University at
noon at Stambaugh Stadium.
Five seniors will also be honored
for playing in their final home game
in the Ice Castle.
