Kent State Blanks YSU, 3-0
Kent, Ohio --
Kent State scored three goals in the second half en route to a
3-0 victory over the Youngstown
State Soccer team (0-1-1) on Sunday
afternoon at the Kent State Soccer
Field.
Defense controlled the
action in the first half as the
teams went scoreless until the 54th
minute when Kent State's Lisa Kurz
connected off a rebound save from
YSU goalie Caitlin Bestard.
Kimberly Dimitroff added Kent
State's second goal at 58:38.
The Golden Flashes closed out its
scoring when Nikki Lightenfeld
connected on a penalty kick in the
81st minute.
The Golden Flashes outshot the Penguins 21-2 and outcornered
YSU 6-0. Bestard recorded six
saves for the Penguins.
YSU is next in action on Friday, Sept. 3, when they host
Horizon League foe Detroit at 4 p.m.
at Stambaugh Stadium. |
