Penguins Six Shots on Goal Not Enough in 2-0 loss to Butler
Indianapolis, Ind.. --
The Youngstown State soccer team
(2-12, 0-5 Horizon League) dropped Friday afternoon's match to league opponent
Butler University (5-9-2, 2-4-1) 2-0. Carrie Wack, Brittny Humphrey, Sade Tate
and Roechelle Boone all attempted shots on goal.
Tate made the fist shot of the game a 3:41 that was
stopped by Butler goalkeeper Kirby Zwickel. Humphrey's shot came seven minutes
later but was also saved.
Carrie Twyman put the first points
of the game on the board with her
goal off the assist from Kristin
Harnest.
Wack tried to even the score at 16:22 but the shot was saved
again by Zwickel.
Molly Arenberg added to the Bulldogs lead at two minutes
before the half giving Butler the
2-0 advantage.
The Penguins had the edge in the second half outshoting
Butler 4-1.
Humphrey fired out the first shot of
the second period at the 53 minute
mark. Boone followed with her first
shot of the game seven minutes
later.
Harnest took Bulter's only shot in the second half
that was quickly retrieved by
Caitlin Bodzioney.
Wack made one shot that was wide and
shot in the final three minutes that
was saved.
Head Coach Anthony James was pleased
that YSU took the first shots in
each half.
"We started the game off well, but
just let it slip away", said James.
YSU will be back
in action on Sunday to take on
Wright State at 2:30 p.m. on the road.
