Knock Penguins Out of Tournament
with 3-0 Loss; Bodzioney Totals 16
saves
Chicago, Ill. --
No. 2 seed Loyola defeated the
Youngstown State soccer team 3-0 in
the first-round of the Horizon
League Championship on Sunday
afternoon at Loyola Soccer Park.
Goalkeeper Caitlin Bodzioney had a
career high 16 saves.
Bodzioney also breaks the school
record for fewest goals scored
against her per game with a 1.88
average for the season.
The Penguins defense helped to keep the entire first half
scoreless. Jordan Gapczynski had a
shot at the 39-minute mark that was
wide of the net.
Jackie Vera scored the first goal of the game two minutes into the
second half. Loyola's Mary Dale put
the final two points of the game on
the board at the 67th minute and
again at the 79 minute mark.
Britta Snowberger also had a shot
for the Penguins in the second half
that was wide.
Head Coach Anthony James was pleased with how well the team
played against such a strong Horizon
League opponent.
"We didn't allow any goals in the
first half, but struggled a little
more in the second half by giving up
three goals", said James. |
