UW-Green Bay Slips by Penguins in 1-0 Contest

Youngstown -- The Youngstown State soccer team put up a hard-fought battle in a close 1-0 loss to Horizon League foe UW-Green Bay on Sunday afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium.
Freshman goalkeeper Caitlin Bodzioney finished with another impressive game totaling 10 saves. The Phoenix came up with a score at the 17-minute mark from senior Stephanie Gross off the assist from midfielder Clair Townsend.
The Penguins took nine shots on goal including three from Jordan Gapzynksi.  Tessa Brookman and Roechelle Boone both took shots on goal but each were saved.
Head Coach Anthony James was encouraged by how the team opened Horizon League play.
"I was very pleased with the team's performance. I saw a great improvement from Friday's match," James said. "This was an unfortunate loss because the teams were both so evenly matched throughout the game", James added.
YSU's defense did not allow any goals in the second half. With the win, UW-Green Bay improves to 1-0-1 in the league and 6-2-2 overall while the Penguins fall to 0-1 and 2-8.

Youngstown State will continue Horizon League action as they play host  to UW-Milwaukee on Friday at 4 p.m.
