Danielle Dabbs

First Season
Ohio State, 2006
Danielle (Dietrich) Dabbs is entering her
first campaign on the Penguins soccer
staff as an assistant coach for
Will Lemke. Dietrich came to YSU
after a successful two-year stint at
NCAA Division III Goucher in Towson,
Md.
While at Goucher, Dabbs served as
the head recruiting coordinator and
was responsible for training the
goalkeepers. She was part
of the team's rebuilding process and
the Gophers saw significant improvement during
her two years with the program under
head coach Tati Korba.
Under Dabbs' direction last season, goalkeeper Kellen Matthews totaled six shutouts
for the Gophers. Dabbs, who
played forward at Ohio State, also
worked closely with
forward/midfielder Sisley Pumilia, who led the team with
23 goals, eight assist and 53
points.
Dabbs has experience as
being the head coach of two club
teams. In the summer of 2004 she
coached the Anchorage Youth Soccer
Club U-13 Premier Team and from
2006-2007 she was the head coach of the Westside Soccer Club
U-9 and U-15 Premier Teams in
Cincinnati. Recently she worked with
the Greater Hartford Soccer Club of Bel Air, Md.
During her four-year career at Ohio
State, Dabbs was a member of two Big Ten
Championship teams in 2002 and 2004. The 2004
Buckeyes also made
an NCAA Tournament Elite Eight appearance,
the first in the school's history.
On and individual level, Dabbs garnered Soccer Buzz
All-Great Lakes Region third-team
honors (2004) and was named to the
All-Freshman Region Team (2002). She
had the fourth-most
single-season goals (11) and
assists (eight) to rank her third in school history with
most points in a season with 30 in
2004.
For
her work in the classroom, Dietrich
was named a three-time OSU scholar
athlete and Academic All-Big Ten.
She ranks in the top five in shot attempts with 214 and
ranked in the top 10 in scoring with
53 points.
Dabbs graduated from Ohio State
in 2006 earning her bachelors degree in
speech and hearing sciences.
She is
expected to complete her Masters in Education with a
specialization in athletic
leadership and program
administration from Goucher College
in May 2009.
Dabbs owns an NSCAA National Diploma and is experienced in
American Sign Language. She has also
been a senior staff member at Ohio
State's Women's Soccer Camps. |
