Athletics: Fourteen Penguins Recognized As
Part of National STUDENT-Athlete Day
Youngstown - The Youngstown State Athletic Department
is recognizing 14 student-athletes
as part of the nationwide National
STUDENT-Athlete Day on Thursday,
April 6.
YSU student-athletes from 12 teams were chosen by the
coaching staffs of their sport to be
honored for the work they do both
during competition, in the classroom
and throughout the community.
The Penguins who were selected to be honored are Lacy Bronson
(softball), Emily Cicero (cross
country), Felicia Ciotola (women's
golf), Jeanna Cunningham (track and
field), Julia Darling (swimming and
diving), Jarrod Davis (track and
field), Abby Ettenhofer
(volleyball), Derrick Harris (men's
basketball), Max King (football),
Kevin Libeg (baseball), Gina Peretti
(women's tennis), Ashlee Russo
(women's basketball), John Sheppard
(cross country) and Britta
Snowberger (soccer).
National STUDENT-Athlete Day is America's day to celebrate
outstanding student-athletes who
have achieved excellence in
academics and athletics while having
made significant contributions to
the community. Since its inception
in 1997, more than 2.2 million
individuals have been honored.
Established by the National
Consortium for Academics and Sports,
this will be the 19th annual
STUDENT-Athlete Day.
The honorees will be acknowledged during the 2006 Forum
Health/YSU Scholar-Athlete Banquet
on May 4. |
