Softball Signs Four Recruits During Early Signing Period |

Youngstown -- Youngstown State softball
Head Coach Brian Campbell announced
Friday the signing of Rebecca Bonola
(Cibola, Texas), Sarah Gabel
(Columbus, Ohio), Hana Somogyi
(Chicago, Ill.) and Kayla Vallery
(Atlanta, Ga.) to National Letters
of Intent to join the Penguins
softball program in the 2009-10
school year.

All-America Scholar-Athlete Honors |

Starkville, Miss. -- Six Youngstown State softball
players have been recognized
by the National Fastpitch Coaches
Association (NFCA) as All-America
Scholar-Athletes for the 2007-08
school year, the association announced.
Penguins earning scholar-athlete recognition include
Danielle Chase, Autumn Grove, Tasha
Hess, Becky Hibner, Erin Schindler
and Kelli Sheibley.

Kicks Off Hit-A-Home Run For
Recycling Campaign With Free Clinic |

Youngstown -- The Youngstown State softball
program kicked off its annual
Hit-A-Home Run Through Recycling
Drive last weekend with a free youth
clinic at McCune Park.
More than 50 student-athletes from
grades eight through 12 participated
in the clinic, which ran from 10
a.m. to Noon.

Two-Time All-American Gina Rango Joins YSU Softball Staff |

Youngstown -- Two-time Easton-Bell
All-America Third-Team selection
Gina Rango has joined the
Youngstown State softball staff as
an assistant coach, Head Coach Brian
Campbell announced. Rango's
responsibilities will include
working with the Penguins
outfielders, serving as a hitting
instructor and coordinating
recruiting efforts in the Mahoning
Valley area.

Free Youth Clinic |

Youngstown -- The YSU softball
program will hold a free youth
clinic, Saturday, Sept. 20, at
McCune Park in Canfield, Ohio, to
kick-off its annual Hit-A-Home Run
Through Recycling Drive, Head Coach
Brian Campbell announced. The clinic, which will run from 10
a.m. to Noon, is open for students
from eighth to 12th grade and is
limited to 150 participants.
Participants are urged to bring any
used softball equipment for the
recycling drive.

to recruits and student-athletes. Also, boosters
are not permitted to have any face-to-face,
