Continues
Homestand Against Cleveland State The
Youngstown State softball team
(6-22, 2-9 Horizon League) seeks to
snap a four-game losing skid when it
hosts in-state rival Cleveland State
(18-9, 4-1 6-2 Horizon League) in a
Horizon League doubleheader,
Tuesday, April 15.
First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. at
McCune Park in Canfield, Ohio.
The Penguins are coming off three
straight losses to Horizon League
foe Wright State last weekend while
the Vikings three-game series at
Green Bay was cancelled due to
inclement weather.
Fornal, Bair
Among Leaders
Senior Jamie
Fornal and sophomore Kristin Bair
are proving to be a couple of the
top hitters in the Horizon League.
Fornal has climbed to seventh in the
circuit with a .378 batting average
while Bair ranks eighth at .373.
Bedra Moves
Into Second
Senior McKenzie
Bedra moved into a tie for second
place on the YSU all-time RBI's list
with 103 runs batted in. She is
currently tied with Tiffany Patteson
and needs 10 more to tie and 11 to
break the record of 113 set by Chris
Notareschi (1995-98).
Vanyi
Sluggin It Out
Freshman
Rochelle Vanyi continues to hit for
extra bases. The Rocklin, Calif.,
native ranks tied for fourth in the
Horizon League with six home runs
and ninth with a .568 slugging
percentage.
Potokar
Turns In Solid Week
Freshman Katy
Potokar
led
the Penguins with a .429 batting
average in five games last week.
Potokar turned in a 3-for-5
performance in YSU’s 14-12 win over
Toledo. She also ripped a double and
scored two runs. In the first game
against Wright State, Potokar went
2-for-3 with a run scored and ripped
a double in the series finale.
Klonowski Goes
Granny
Freshman Kim Klonowski hit her first
career home run – a grand slam -
against Toledo in a 14-12 win. It
marked just the ninth grand slam in
school history.
