Penguins Softball Swept After 17-2
Loss to UIC
Canfield, Ohio -- The
Youngstown State softball team fell
to 5-18 overall and 2-6 in the
Horizon League after dropping a 17-2
decision to UIC (16-21, 7-1 Horizon
League) on Sunday afternoon at
McCune Park.
UIC pitcher Sarah Clynes allowed
just four hits and went 5-for-6 with
a home run, two doubles and six runs
batted in to lead the Flames 19-hit
attack.
Trailing 7-0 in the bottom of the
fifth, freshman Kim Klonowski's
field choice plated McKenzie Bedra,
who broke up Clynes' perfect game
with a leadoff single. Senior Becky
Hibner single to center field scored
Jamie Fornal for the Penguins' final
score.
UIC added 10 runs in the top of the
seventh inning to put the game away.
