Two-Time All-American Gina Rango Joins Youngstown State Softball Staff

All-America Third-Team selection
Gina Rango (North Lima,
Ohio/Boardman) has joined the
Youngstown State softball staff as
an assistant coach, Head Coach Brian
Campbell announced on Thursday
(Sept. 18).
"The addition of
Gina Rango, a local product who
reached all-american status
during her Division I playing days,
to our staff is extremely beneficial
to our program," Campbell said. "Not
only does she have a true love for
the game of softball, she owns a
tremendous playing pedigree and has
a strong desire to help our current
student-athletes improve their
game."
Rango's
responsibilities will include
working with the Penguins
outfielders, serving as a hitting
instructor and coordinating
recruiting efforts in the Mahoning
Valley area.
Rango, a
four-year starter at Bowling Green
from 2003-06, ended her career as
the Falcons' all-time leader in 10
offensive categories, including
batting average (.367), home runs
(26), runs batted in (132), slugging
percentage (.568), hits (261) and
doubles (51).
The 2005
Mid-American Conference Player of
the Year, Rango was a four-time
first-team All-Mid-American
Conference selection and was the
first Bowling Green player to earn
National Fastpitch Coaches
Association (NFCA) All-Great Lakes
Region honors on more than occasion.
Rango earned All-Great Lakes Region
First-Team laurels in 2005 and 2006. |
