Youngstown -- Members of the Youngstown State baseball team showcased their talents in front of 18 scouts representing Major League Baseball teams on Wednesday evening at Eastwood Field.

The Penguins took an extended infield and outfield defensive circuit, and they went through their standard batting practice routine. Pitchers Phil Klein, Cody Dearth and Robert Switka all threw 15 scripted pitches off the mound in a bullpen session.

"I felt our players did well last night," YSU head coach Rich Pasquale said. "They represented this program in a way that people in baseball know that we play hard every day and we try to do things the right way. I received numerous compliments from the Major League scouts on our players hustled and how organized the practice was for them to evaluate."

Youngstown State will have an intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday at Eastwood Field. Parents of student-athletes will be in attendance and host a picnic afterward.
