The Youngstown State baseball team will play Pittsburgh in a special day game on Tuesday, May 15, at Eastwood Field. The game, hosted by the Mahoning Valley Scrappers and presented by Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, is a good field trip opportunity for students in area schools.

The Scrappers, in partnership with the Penguins baseball program, are selling affordable group packages for students. The cost of the package is $5 per student and includes a game ticket, lunch and an educational curriculum. Gates will open at 10:30 a.m., and first pitch is set for 11 a.m.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for us to continue our partnership with the Scrappers and showcase our program in front of students from the Mahoning Valley,” YSU head coach Rich Pasquale said. “We appreciated the large turnout and support at last year’s day game, and we’re hoping for an even bigger crowd this year.”

Reservations are being taken, and groups are encouraged to sign up early to guarantee seating. The deadline for groups is Friday, April 13. Individual game tickets will be available for $5 each.
