The Youngstown State baseball coaches will host a developmental hitting camp on Sunday, Jan. 21, at the Watson and Tressel Training Site on campus.

The camp is available to hitters in grades 5-12 as well as junior college players. Check-in starts at 8:15 a.m., and the camp will go from 9 a.m.-noon. Space is limited to the first 36 registrants.

Campers will be coached and instructed the same as YSU's current players. Small groups will be formed for instruction with multiple drills to understand proper body movement, establishing an offensive routine and developing a two-strike approach. There will be machine work to challenge hitters and video analysis.

The cost for the camp is $125, which includes a t-shirt. Campers should bring turf shoes, a bat, a helmet and other gear needed to hit. A $20 discount is available for siblings of registrants, and children of YSU employees will receive a $25 discount.

Online registration is available at penguinscamps.com. For more information, contact YSU assistant coach Eric Smith at emsmith08@ysu.edu.
