The Youngstown State football team had a sharp full-pad practice in the morning and was rewarded with a practice in helmets during the second session on Monday at Stambaugh Stadium. YSU worked on fundamentals during the later practice.

In the morning, the Penguins had a solid two-hour plus performance and earned praise from Head Coach Eric Wolford. Because of the productivity in the first session, the Guins practiced in helmets later in the day. YSU worked on individual situations and spent time working on kickoff returns and kickoff coverages.

Wolford announced some position changes following Saturday's scrimmage.

Wolford said linebacker Will Shaw has shifted from linebacker to tight end. Wolford said the move was precipated by depth at the position. Also changing positions were defensive lineman Brandon Green who moved to offense line and cornerback Parnell Taylor who moved to wide receiver.

The Penguins have one workout on Tuesday, which is set to start at 10 a.m. at Stambaugh Stadium.

YSU opens the season on Friday, Sept. 2 at Michigan State. The contest will be televised on the Big Ten Network and carried on 570 WKBN AM.
