The Youngstown State football team worked out in full pads in the morning and held a practice in shoulder pads holding its final set of two-a-day practices on Monday at Stambaugh Stadium. Following the second practice, the depth chart was revealed with less than two weeks left before the season starts.
The Penguins practiced with a good amount of energy and enthusiasm following a day off. YSU scrimmage on Saturday before resting on Sunday. Monday saw the players flying around the field in both sessions. For YSU's 14 seniors, it was the final two-a-day session of their Penguin careers.
In the morning, the Penguins were in full pads working on situations from Saturday's scrimmage. The defense seemed to have the upper hand at times on the offensive unit.
In the evening session, Coach Eric Wolford ended practice five minutes early because of the productive work of the players. Both groups were spirited during the entire session.
The coaching staff released its first depth chart of the fall on Monday and the media asked Coach Wolford about the changes from this year's two-deep compared to last year's. For Coach's comments check out the post-practice video.
The Penguins will practice on Tuesday morning before attending their annual Steak Fry cookout in the evening.
YSU opens the season on Friday, Sept. 2 at Michigan State. The contest will be televised on the Big Ten Network and carried on 570 WKBN AM.
