A full afternoon of activities will be part of Saturday's Youngstown State football conference game against South Dakota State at Stambaugh Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. with tailgate lots opening at 10 a.m. For tickets call (330) 941-1978.
At halftime of Saturday's game, members of the 1991 National Championship football team will be honored. As of Thursday, nearly 25 former players and coaches have committed to attend the game. It marks the 20th anniversary of that campaign.
The tailgate lots and YSU Athletic Ticket Office are set to open at 10 a.m. on Saturday. A reminder to fans that they can save $2 per ticket on advance sales. Reserved tickets are $16 in advance of the game while gameday the price is $18. For general admission seats, purchasing in advance costs $12 while on the day of the game the price will be $14.
Senior citizens can use a Golden Buckeye card to save $2 on advance and gameday sales. Tickets for children 12-and-under are available at half-price ($9 for reserved and $7 for general admission on gameday). YSU Faculty and Staff get half-priced tickets in advance of Saturday and YSU students get free admission with a valid student ID.
Fans are reminded that all outside booth sales are cash only and the only place that accepts credit cards is the Athletic Ticket Office inside the stadium.
Saturday's pregame tailgate fun begins at 1 p.m. In the M-7 Tailgate Lot, the River Saints Band will kick off the day on a rousing note. Also in the M-7 Lot, the YSU Football Alumni Tailgate Blast will help reunite players of the past from 1-3 p.m. A highlight of the event will be more than 20 returning players
The YSU football team will have its tailgate walk at approximately 1:40 p.m. through the M-24 Lot. Fans are encouraged to lineup and greet the team as they head towards the stadium.
Fans can stop by the Penguin Club Hospitality Tent starting at 2 p.m. to learn more information about the organization and pick up giveaways. Wives of the YSU coaching staff members along with First Place Bank representatives will be handing out bags to help collect non-perishable food items for The Second Harvest Food Bank.
At 3 p.m., the YSU Marching Pride will be conducting its Ice Breakers event on the grass near the Andrews Wellness and Recreation Center to get fans in full gameday mode.
Fans attending Saturday's game will receive a free set of trading cards featuring some of the top players from the 1991 National Championship squad courtesy of McDonald's and myvalleysports.com.
