Penguins-Spartans Contest Set for 2 p.m. Kickoff on September 14

All times for the 2013 Youngstown State football season are now official with the recent announcement by Michigan State and the Big Ten Conference that the Penguins and Spartans will kickoff at 2 p.m. on Sept. 14 at Spartan Stadium.

The contest will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. The Penguins dropped a 28-6 contest at Michigan State in 2011.

YSU's other road game times (all Eastern) are 7 p.m. at Southern Illinois on Sept. 28, 3 p.m. at Indiana State on Oct. 5, 2 p.m. at South Dakota on Nov. 2 and 5 p.m. at UNI on Nov. 9.

The Penguins play three night games during the year, two of which are at Stambaugh Stadium. YSU opens with a Thursday, Aug. 29 contest at Dayton at 7:35 p.m., visits the Salukis for a 6 p.m. local time kick on Sept. 28 in Carbondale, Ill., than plays host to Illinois State at 7 p.m. on Oct. 12.

YSU plays four games at 4 p.m., including home contests against Morehead State (Sept. 7), Duquesne (Sept. 21) and Western Illinois (Oct. 19). Three of the contest are set for 2 p.m., including the final two home games of the year - North Dakota State (Nov. 16) and South Dakota State (Nov. 23).

The Oct. 19 contest against the Leathernecks will serve as the Homecoming contest for the season while the North Dakota State contest on Nov. 16 will feature the soon-to-be announced YSU Athletics Hall of Fame class.

Season tickets for the rare seven-home game schedule are available by contacting the YSU Athletic Ticket Office at (330) 941-1978. 

Reserved season-ticket packages are available for $102 while general-admission packages are $78. Fans pay less than $15 a game ticket with a reserved package while a general-admission ticket is just over $11.

The only other time in school history the Penguins had seven regular-season home games was in 2003.
