No. 15 Penguins Play Final Non-Conference Contest Against SFU

The 15th-ranked Youngstown State football team concludes its three-game homestand on Saturday when the Penguins play host to Saint Francis. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Stambaugh Stadium. Tickets for the Primetime contest are available by calling the YSU Athletic Ticket Office at (330) 941-1978.

The Penguins have won two straight and improved to 12-0 in home non-conference games with a strong 44-13 win over 2013 FCS playoff foe Butler. The Penguins ended the game strong scoring 41 of the last 44 points after falling behind 10-3.

YSU fans saw an outstanding performance by senior wide receiver Jelani Berassa and freshman quarterback Hunter Wells in the game. Wells stepped in for injured starter Dante Nania and threw four touchdown passes and nearly 300 yards.

Saint Francis has played a strong schedule so far this season playing at Fordham and James Madison so far this year. The Red Flash own a home victory over Clarion and feature the FCS's top rushing leader in Khairi Dickson. Dickson is averaging 202.7 yards rushing per game so far this season and had 216 at James Madison last week.

Fans attending the game will receive YSU Water Bottle courtesy of WKBN 27 First News, McDonald's and Farmers National Bank.

Highlighting the pregame festivities is the final State Farm Kids Day's in the M-7 Rulli Brothers Tailgate Lot. Kids Day as well as a performance by Tripwire are set to begin at 4 p.m.

Joining the YSU Marching Pride in performing at halftime is the Jefferson High School Marching Band.

It is fifth all-time meeting between the Penguins and Red Flash. The Penguins earned a 49-23 win in 2011 at Stambaugh Stadium. The previous four meetings were in the 1950s.
