The Youngstown State football team opens the 2016 season on Thursday night against Duquesne. Kickoff for the contest between the Penguins and Dukes is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Stambaugh Stadium.
Fans are reminded that because Thursday's game is taking place on a class day that some tweaks to the normal gameday schedule have been made. Also, various on-going campus construction projects and some renaming of various YSU parking lots will make for some adjustments in everyone's pregame routine.
Fans can check back for gameday specifics prior to the home game.
A change of from the norm is that the tailgate lots, now M-70 (formerly M-24) and M-63 (formerly M-7) will open at 4 p.m. instead of the usual six hours prior to kickoff. This will allow students, faculty and YSU staff to park during normal business hours.
The YSU Athletic Ticket office will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. this week. YSU students can get a free ticket with a valid student ID at either the Stambaugh Stadium Athletic Ticket Office or the YSU Bookstore.

Fans in attendance will receive a 2016 schedule magnet courtesy of State Farm, Talmer Bank and WFMJ TV-21. Fans can tune it to 570 WKBN AM to listen to the YSU/Pizza Hut tailgate show starting at 6:30 p.m.
Joining the YSU Marching Pride to perform at halftime is the Boardman High School Marching Band.
Gates for the contest will open at 6 p.m. Fans arriving at 6 p.m. can catch the debut episode of YSU's Penguin Kickoff Pregame Show on the videoboard. The show features students who produce YSU's Penguin Rundown, a weekly show that covers Penguins athletics.
