GAMEDAY SCHEDULE: Penguins vs. UNI | Oct. 15

An afternoon of activities will keep fans busy leading up to the Youngstown State football team's key Missouri Valley Football Conference contest against UNI on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Stambaugh Stadium.

Highlighting the evening will be the honoring of the 1991 National Championship team. Twenty-five years ago the Penguins won the program's first national title and sparked an impressive decade of dominance in the 1990s.

Fans will be allowed to start their tailgating festivities at 1 p.m. Beer will be on sale in both lots start at one o'clock. Parking in the M-62, M-71, M-72 and decks (M-30 and M-60) will be available at that time for $5.

Fans are reminded that the tailgate lots have a new number designation. The upper, M-70 Lot, was formerly the M-24 Lot while the lower Rulli Bros Tailgate lot, M-63, was formerly the M-7. Also with a chance of rain in the forecast, no umbrellas are allowed in the stadium by patrons.

Also construction has started on Wick Avenue on the east side of campus while Lincoln Avenue will be closed the rest of the season.

The YSU swimming and diving team is hosting its first dual meet of the season. The Penguins will take on three-time defending Horizon League Champion Oakland at noon at the Beeghly Natatorium.

At 4 p.m., YSU fans are invited to attend the ground-breaking ceremony for the new Barnes & Noble that will be built by the University Edge apartments. 

The Football Alumni Tailgate Blast, in conjunction with the return of the 1991 team, will start at 4 p.m. in the M-63 Tailgate Lot.

Also to get the juices flowing in the M-63 Tailgate Lot, the band Second Avenue Project is set to perform in the lot starting at 4:15 p.m. as well. The Penguin Pack will be hosting their pregame party in the tailgate lot for YSU students as well.

The Penguin Pack is have a #BlackOut theme for the game. Special black t-shirts with a silver Y will be the featured giveaway for the game.

GeoStar Professionals is giving away two $375 scholarships at the game to lucky fans the YSU student section. Students must pick up their ticket for the game by the end of the day Friday and be in attendance at the end of the third quarter to be eligible for the drawing.

Members of the YSU baseball program will be selling merchandise near the M-63 Lot and then at the game on the West Stands Concourse. The program will be accepting credit cards for purchases. The women's golf team will be selling YSU "Y" Powerband wristbands and magnets.

All fans attending the game will receive a commemorative 25th Anniversary key chain sponsored by 21 WFMJ, Greenwood Chevrolet, and WBCB The CW.

During the game members of the softball team will be selling 50/50 Raffle Tickets. 

As always, YSU students are admitted free with a valid student ID with seating on the East Side stands. Tickets on gameday are $20 for reserved seats. The YSU Athletic Ticket Office is open until 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday prior to the contest.
