Seven Youngstown State student-athletes were voted onto the 2012-13 Winter Academic All-Horizon League teams for their success both in competition and in the classroom, the conference office announced on Monday.

Youngstown State had two of the five representatives on the men's basketball academic all-league team with Blake Allen and Kendrick Perry earning spots. Of the seven Penguins who appeared on the teams, four were repeat honorees.

Seniors Brandi Brown (women's basketball) and Casey Hill (diving) both earned Academic All-Horizon League honors for the third time in their respective careers. She is the first YSU women's basketball player to earn academic all-league honors three times. Hill boasts a 3.71 GPA in exercise science and joins Kalyn Leveto as divers to earn Academic All-Horizon League accolades three times.

In track and field, junior distance runner Anna Pompeo (3.91 GPA in early childhood education) and senior John Seaver (3.62 GPA in integrated social studies education) became two-time academic all-league honorees.
