Men's Basketball Closes Homestand Against Detroit Mercy Saturday Night

• The Youngstown State men's basketball team closes out its three-game homestand when it hosts Detroit Mercy, Saturday, Feb. 4.

• Tipoff is at 7 p.m. at the Beeghly Center and the game will be broadcast on 570-AM WKBN, ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.

• This is the 45th meeting between Youngstown State and Detroit Mercy in a series that dates back to 1953.

• The Titans own a 35-9 advantage in the all-time series and have won the last eight meetings.

• In the last meeting, Detroit Mercy won, 87-71, at Calihan Hall on Jan. 16. YSU last defeated Detroit Mercy in 2014.

• The Penguins are coming off a tough 90-76 loss to Oakland on Feb. 2.

• Junior Francisco Santiago and sophomore Devin Haygood each posted career-scoring highs against the Golden Grizzlies.

• Santiago scored a game-high 26 while Haygood scored 21 points.

• Haygood also had a career-high nine rebounds.

• Junior Cameron Morse added 12 points.

• Head Coach Jerry Slocum has 720 career wins and became the 38th head coach in NCAA history to reach 700 wins.

• He ranks 35th on that list and is ninth on the active Division I coaches list.

• Junior Cameron Morse became the 37th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points after scoring 13 against Northern Kentucky.

• Morse now ranks 23rd all-time with 1,173 career points and needs 15 more to move into 21st place.
