Williamsburg, Va. - The Youngstown State men's golf team concluded play in the Kingsmill Intercollegiate at Kingsmill Resort on Tuesday afternoon. The Penguins finished 20th as a team with a three-round total of 914.

After shooting 309 and 308 respectively in the first two rounds on Sunday and Monday, the team bounced back with a 297 in the final round on Tuesday.

YSU was led by Ken Keller who posted a 219 (76-74-69) to finish in a tie for 19th. The freshman's third-round 69 (-1) is a career best and the lowest single-round score for any YSU golfer this season.

Keller's impressive final round featured a total of 13 pars and three birdies. Through the first 12 holes of the round, he had carded 11 pars and a birdie. His 69 tied for the fourth-lowest, single-round score of the event and tied for the second-lowest score of the third round.

Keller's 19th-place finish and his three-round 219 are both career bests as well. He shot YSU's lowest score in each round and has now been the Penguins' top finisher in two straight events. The freshman was tied for 43rd at the conclusion of the second round and used his tremendous final round to climb all the way to 19th.

Freshmen C.J. Hughes and Kevin Scherr turned in scores of 229 (76-75-78) and 231 (78-79-74) respectively. Hughes' first-round 76 tied for YSU's lowest mark of the round with Keller. Hughes also earned the second eagle of his young career on No. 7 in the second round of play.

Dominic Carano finished with a 235 (79-80-76) and Justin Hallapy recorded a 247 (82-81-84).

Southern Illinois won the event by four strokes over Utah Valley with a three-round 862 (293-284-285). The Salukis' second-round 284 was the lowest single-round team score of the event.

Peyton Wilhoit of Southern Illinois took home medalist honors by three strokes with a 208 (74-68-66) to finish at two under par. His third-round 66 was the lowest single-round score of the event.
