Penguins Fall to IPFW, 4-3

The Youngstown State men's tennis team won three singles matches, but dropping the doubles point proved to be the difference as the Penguins lost 4-3 to IPFW at Boardman Tennis Center on Friday. The Guins are now 3-4 for the season.

YSU won three out of the six singles matches with only one of them going into a third set. In the No. 1 singles match, senior Traiq Ismail defeated Roberto Cabrini 4-6, 6-1, 7-6. Freshman Silviu Mistreanu and Dawoud Kabli won their matches in straight sets. Mistreanu, in No. 3 singles, won 7-5, 6-2 against Daniel Kang. In No. 4 singles, Kabli defeated Connor Andrews 6-2, 6-4.

In doubles play, Tariq Ismail and Kabli defeated Connor Andrews and Roberto Cabrini 9-8 in the No. 1 doubles match. Sophomore Zeeshan Ismail and Mistreanu competed in the No. 2 doubles match, losing a close match by two 9-7.

YSU returns to action on Sunday when it takes on Dayton at 4 p.m.
