Mistreanu Earns First-Team All-Horizon League Honors

Indianapolis, Ind. - Youngstown State freshman Silviu Mistreanu was named first-team All-Horizon League the conference announced on Friday. It is the second straight year the program has had a first-team selection.

Mistreanu joins Tariq Ismail (2010-11), Tom Barth (2004-05), R.J. Pepino (2003-04) and Seth Banks (2002-03 as Penguins who have received first-team honors.

On the season, Mistreanu was 14-5 this spring while posting a 6-1 mark in Horizon League action. He played his last 15 matches at No. 2 singles posting an 11-4 mark. His lone Horizon League defeat came in three sets (1-6, 7-5, 8-10) against Detroit's Alex Latosinsky on March 24. Mistreanu has won five straight matches and six of this last seven since losing to Latosinsky.

Earlier today he was leading aginst Butler when the match was halted after the sixth-seeded Bulldogs clinched their upset of the third-seeded Penguins.
