Second-Ranked Buckeyes Defeat Penguins, 6-0

Columbus, Ohio -- The Youngstown State men's tennis team dropped a 6-0 decision to second-ranked Ohio State on Sunday evening. The Penguins won points in five of the six single matches played at the Varsity Tennis Center.

At No. 1 singles, Tariq Ismail dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision to No. 12 Chase Buchanan. At No. 2, Silviu Mistrean lost 6-1, 6-2 to 54th-ranked Peter Kobelt 6-1, 6-2. In action at No. 3, Dawoud Kabli lost a 6-3, 6-4 decision. At No. 4 singles, Max Schmerin suffered a 6-2, 6-3 setback to Ille Van Engelen. At No. 5 singles, Rodrigo Campos droped a hard-fought match to 110th-ranked Nelson Vick 6-4 and 6-3. At No. 6, Felipe Rosa dropped a 6-0, 6-0 match to Steven Williams.

The team's did not play doubles matches. Ohio State improved to 23-2 on the year while the Penguins dropped to 6-7. OSU has now won 143 straight home duals.

YSU returns to action on Saturday against Green Bay.
