Xavier Knocks Off Penguins 6-1

The Youngstown State men's tennis team suffered a 6-1 setback to Xavier on Saturday night at the Boardman Tennis Center. Rodrigo Campos picked up a three-set win for the Penguins' team point on the night.

Campos defeated the Musketeers' Freddy Abunku 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 at No. 6 singles. At No. 1, Tariq Ismail dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Jimmy Roebker, Dawoud Kabli lost 6-0, 6-3 to Mesa Mei, Zeeshan Ismail fell 6-4, 7-5 to Richard Canelas, Silviu Mistreanu suffered a 7-6, 6-0 setback to Brandon MacDonald and XU's Marc Pretorius defeated Max Schmerin 6-2, 7-6.

In doubles play, Xavier won at No. 1 and No. 3 while Schmerin and Mistreanu teamed up to beat Philip Dia and MacDonald 8-6.

YSU returns to action next Saturday against Niagara. The match at the Boardman Tennis Center is set for 6 p.m.
