Ann Arbor, Mich. - The Youngstown State men's tennis team had a solid performance, but suffered a 7-0 defeat to Michigan on Sunday afternoon at the Varsity Tennis Center.
The Penguins were leading at No. 1 doubles as Sebastian Hagn and Dawoud Kabli were in front of the No. 22-ranked duo of Alex Buzzi and Barrett Franks when the match was halted at 5-3. The Wolverines (9-7) won at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to clinch the point.
In singles play, Hagn had a strong performance at the No. 1 spot. Hagn dropped the first set to Vlad Stefan before battling back to win the second 6-2. In the third-set tiebreaker, Hagn had it tied at four and was down 6-5, but Stefan scored four of the last five points to earn the win.
The Penguins (3-11) return to action next Sunday when they take on Detroit.
