Hagn Picks Up Singles and Doubles Wins at Morehead State

Morehead, Ky. - Sebastian Hagn earned a win at No. 1 singles and teamed up with Dawoud Kabli to earn a victory at No. 1 doubles as the Penguins dropped a 6-1 match to Morehead State on Thursday afternoon at the Sadler Courts.

In the Penguins' final non-conference match of the season, Hagn defeated the Eagles' Jack Swindells in straight sets by a score of 6-3, 6-3.

The Guins lost two hard-fought matches in three sets at No. 4 and No. 5 singles. At No. 4, Max Schmerin lost 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (3) to Nick Mercer while Zeeshan Ismail suffered a 7-6, 3-6, 10-5 defeat to David Clifford.

At No. 2, Silviu Mistreanu lost 7-6 (5), 3-2 to Giovanni Samaha while Kabli suffered a 6-1, 6-2 loss to Ji Hoon Heo at No. 3 and Sharvil Nawghare fell 7-5, 6-3 to Gabriel Ruiz.

In doubles, Hagn and Kabli scored an 8-6 win over Heo and Swindells at No. 1. The Eagles earned the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, both by 8-5 scores.

The loss drops the Penguins to 5-13 on the year while Morehead State improves to 9-7.

YSU plays its final home match on the season on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Boardman Tennis Center.
