Kabli Picks Up Win In Loss at Valparaiso

Valparaiso, Ind. - The Youngstown State men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Valparaiso on Friday afternoon at the Valpo Tennis Complex. Dawoud Kabli picked up a win for the Penguins at No. 3 singles. 

Kabli earned a 6-3, 6-4 decision over the Crusaders' Eric Honert for the line YSU point. The Penguins dropped contests at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 in three sets. 

At No. 4, Max Schmerin suffered a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 setback to Michael Savaglio. At No. 5, Zeeshan Ismail lost a hard fought contest to Charlie Emhardt by a 6-7, 7-5, 6-1 score and at No. 6, Rodrigo Campos lost 7-6, 5-7, 6-0 to Kyle Dunn. 

Valpo won in straight sets at No. 1 and No. 2 singles while earning the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. 

The loss drops the Penguins to 5-15 overall and 1-3 in Horizon League play. Valpo improves to 18-7 and 3-2 in HL action.

YSU wraps up the regular season on Saturday with a dual at UIC.
